Getting Around Iloilo: A Self-Drive Guide
Iloilo International Airport in Cabatuan is roughly 30–45 minutes by road from downtown Iloilo City and its wharves, so you’ll have plenty of time to plan the rest of the day after picking up your rental.
Miagao Church – an easy day trip south: This UNESCO World Heritage fortress-baroque church is about 40 km south of the city, roughly a 40-45 minute drive along the coastal road – one of the most straightforward self-drive day trips from Iloilo.
Guimaras – a short hop across the strait: Head to Ortiz Wharf and cross by pumpboat – the crossing itself is only around 15–25 minutes. Park your rental near the wharf and pick it back up when you return; it’s one of the easiest inter-island trips in the country.
Gigantes Islands – for a longer trip: If you have a full day (or more) to spare, the drive north to Bancal Port in Carles takes about 3–4 hours, followed by roughly a 1.5-hour pumpboat ride out to Gigantes Norte. Bancal Port has parking for travelers bringing their own vehicle, so your rental waits for you at the jump-off point.
Whether it’s a quick church visit, an island crossing, or a longer trip north, a rental keeps you on your own schedule. Check out our fleet above and get in touch if you’d like route suggestions for your specific itinerary.
